When and why was your group formed?

The choir was founded in 2000 for girls who had outgrown the children’s choir at Langholtskirkja. Most of the choir have been singing together since they were 4 years old.

Once every fortnight at Langholtskirkja (the church of Langholt) in Reykjavik

Jón Stefánsson

Give us a short biography of your conductor/leader

Jón Stefánsson conductor qualified as a cantor in Iceland, then pursued further studies at the Munich Academy of Music with prof. Karl Richter, and subsequently at the Academy of Music in Vienna with prof. Michael Radulescu. Jón has been conductor, organist and chorusmaster in Langholtskirkja, Reykjavík since 1964. Jón is the founder of the Langholtskirkja Graduale Choir, which has established itself under his leadership as one of Iceland’s best youth choirs. In 2000 he founded Graduale Nobili.
